Protein Sciences Announces promotion of Drs. Manon M.J. Cox to Chief Operating Officer

Meriden, CT, November 18, 2002. - Protein Sciences Corporation announced today that the Board of Directors elected Drs. Manon M.J. Cox MBA the Company's Chief Operating Officer. Manon joined the Company in 1998 as Director of Business Development. She was promoted to Vice President, Business Development in 1999 and to Vice President, Corporate and Business Development in 2001. She previously worked for Gist-brocades B.V., most recently as Manager, New Business Development-Biopharmaceuticals, where she was employed in various positions in research, production, marketing and sales. She was responsible as a line manager for optimization of production processes at a manufacturing plant in Belgium, as a project manager for the development of a detergent enzyme and a research scientist in bacterial genetics. Prior thereto, she was a research scientist at the University of Amsterdam. Drs. Cox received a Doctorandus Degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics and Biochemistry from the University of Nijmegen (Netherlands), a degree in economics from the Open University (Netherlands) and an MBA with distinction from the University of Nijenrode (Netherlands) and the Simon Business School, University of Rochester (U.S.A.).
